Don’t miss the first ever Greater Manchester Festival of Ageing!

Have you registered yet for your free wristband and festival brochure for Greater Manchester’s Festival of Ageing running from 2 to 15 July 2018?

If you are aged over 50 and live in Greater Manchester, then this festival is for you!

 

The fortnight kicks off with simultaneous launch events across Manchester City Art Gallery, Central Library and Albert Square on Monday 2 July, from 12 noon to 4pm. Together these three Festival venues will host a themed programme including zoned activities offering taster sessions, exhibitions, activities and information on everything on offer around GM. Highlights include a climbing wall, ‘Silver Swans’ ballet taster session, middle eastern dance, interactive Desert Island Discs, arts and crafts, walking football tasters and tournament, line dancing, seated Tai chi, and musical performances throughout the day.

 

Your wristband will give you priority access to the launch, plus the eight borough events being held in Bolton, Bury, Wigan, Oldham, Salford, Tameside and Rochdale across the fortnight. In addition, there are over 200 other fringe events going on which will take the form of coffee mornings, fitness sessions, digital workshops, wellbeing drop-ins, public lectures, knitting groups, local history discussions, social meet-ups, dances, art groups, swing music nights, games mornings, singing groups, books groups and much, much more.

The Festival of Ageing is being co-ordinated by a partnership of five groups, 4CT (a charity in Manchester), HMR Circle (in Rochdale), Manchester Metropolitan University Age Friendly Team, Persona (in Bury) and Wigan Athletic Community Trust. Funding has been provided through the Ambition for Ageing programme which is a lottery funded programme through GMCVO.
