Case Study

The New Hope Fellowship Church

THE NEED

It came to our attention that New Hope Fellowship Church could not be used for a range of community events owing to the lack of an accessible disabled toilet. The situation was severely limiting event planning options for a number of community organisers and partners, particularly those who frequently worked with older people.

THE SOLUTION

MAFN worked with a local resident and the church to work on creating a new accessible toilet at the location. Architectural and budgetary constraints meant that a new build was not possible, so one of the existing toilets was refurbished and adapted. Following funding agreement, new fixtures and fitting were installed in July 2017.

WHAT'S GOT BETTER

As a result of the new accessible toilet being installed, more people are attending social and other activities held in the church and we know that at least  three disabled people have started using the foodbank. The church also now hosts a computer class.
