Positive Ageing Imagery project

Ambition for Ageing partners Macc host the Greater Manchester Older People’s Network (GMOPN) which provides an opportunity for older people to have a voice in the design, delivery and evaluation of the programme. Membership is drawn from older people involved in AfA and more widely any other older people interested in influencing the work of the programme.

They are excited to be launching their new Positive Ageing Imagery Project. The project will be looking at why stereotypical images of wrinkly hands that reinforce negativity around ageing are used in the media to represent older people. They want to replace these images with more positive ones that celebrate older people and ageing. Helen Morris, who will be volunteering with the GMOPN over the coming months, will be facilitating this project and is looking for older people who are interested in getting involved.

The GMOPN want a diverse range of people, aged 50 and over, in Greater Manchester, to get involved in this project by joining the focus group or becoming an online image reviewer. If you are interesting in getting involved, please contact Liz on 0161 834 9823 or email: GMOPN@macc.org.uk
