Silver Sunday is an annual day of fun and free activities for older people across the UK.

Led by The Sir Simon Milton Foundation, it celebrates the value and knowledge that older people contribute to our communities while combating loneliness and isolation. It was launched in 2012 after a report discovered that more than a third of people over 75 said they were lonely. The aim then was to create an event that would celebrate older residents, recognise their contribution to their communities and help them get out and about to meet new people.

Since then, over the past six years, there has been a huge increase in both in the number of events and people taking part all across the UK. Last year, over 750 events took place attended by thousands of older people.

Everyone is invited to get involved - whether by organising an event, spreading the word, or attending an activity.
