Social Infrastructure: How shared spaces make communities work

Our social infrastructure - the shared spaces and public places that form a part of our everyday lives - are often overlooked, yet are a crucial part of our communities on many levels.
This interactive seminar, led by Dr Sophie Yarker (University of Manchester), poses the question of how a variety social infrastructure can benefit older people as well as discussing how better utilising these spaces can bring major benefits to local communities.
The seminar will be your opportunity to:
- Learn about the most recent policy and academic thinking around social infrastructure
- Discuss how social infrastructure that is important to the projects you fund or deliver and the communities you work with and support
- Explore how you use and experience the third places in your own neighbourhoods.
This seminar will be useful for national charities, voluntary organisations, public sector, academics and think tanks interested in place-based working, older people and/or inequalities.
