Supporting Ageing in Place – First round investments made
We are pleased to announce the recipients of the first round of our Supporting Ageing in Place funding.
We have awarded up to £2,000 for 36 projects in specific neighborhoods across Greater Manchester (GM) to tackle social isolation, build social connections and make places across GM more age-friendly.
It was great to see so many project ideas to support a wide range of older people to be less socially isolated. Projects range from purchasing age-friendly benches, to social fitness classes, pet therapy sessions, community gardening and much more.
Delivery is beginning this August and we can’t wait for older people across Greater Manchester to get involved in the new activities and support on offer.
An underpinning principle of Ambition for Ageing is that a series of small changes within our communities will bring large scale success. Our research on microfunding has shown that a small pot of money can generate significant change within a neighbourhood, so we are delighted to have funded such a wider range of small projects across the region.
The second round of Supporting Ageing in Place has included more targetted marketing to ensure a good coverage of projects across Greater Manchester. Following this second round, we will share a full list of recipients towards the end of September 2021.
We would like to thank the assessment panel members for their contribution and invaluable expertise.
