Urban Regeneration MICRA seminar
The first seminar in the Autumn/ Winter series of MICRA seminars delivered as part of the Ambition for Ageing programme was presented by Camilla Lewis on Tuesday 24th October 2017.
One of Camilla’s main themes is how older people’s thoughts on community and belonging have changed because of their experiences of urban change. Camilla also argues that we cannot dismiss older people’s perspectives as a form of nostalgia. Instead, she urges, we must explore how stories about the past also influence the way in which social relationships are experienced in the present.
Camilla Lewis is Research Fellow at the School of Social Sciences, University of Manchester. Her research centres on the themes of urban change, belonging and community with a strong methodological focus, spanning a variety of ethnographic, qualitative as well as longitudinal approaches.
