World Health Organization - Age-Friendly Cities
he World Health Organization (WHO) first introduced the concept of age-friendly and has an ever growing network of cities and communities that have been designated as age-friendly.
The WHO describes an age-friendly city as 'a city that encourages active ageing by optimising opportunities for health, participation and security in order to enhance quality of life as people age'
The diagram above shows the 8 age-friendly topic areas that help cities and communities to think about how they can be more age-friendly.
