Weekly colouring classes are bringing people together at care homes in Oldham, after one resident spoke up about how happy the activity made her.
Age UK Oldham and Action Together are working in partnership on Oldham’s Ambition for Ageing Programme.
The partnership is working in Alexandra, Crompton and Failsworth West with local community groups, individuals and businesses to create more age friendly communities. Working alongside volunteer ‘ambassadors’, ‘community researchers’ and ‘community organisers’, small sums are being invested to help the community bring to life their own age friendly project ideas.
Ambition for Ageing Oldham enjoys expert support and guidance from the Age-Friendly Project Group. This comprises both of people aged 50+ and professionals who work with people aged 50+. The Group also helps to make decisions on where investments are made. Additionally there are 'organising groups’ in each area who help to plan and run what is happening locally.
